Task/Position Title: Readers and scanners

This is an ongoing position, requiring a minimum commitment of forever duration.
Time commitment of Min. 2 hr per session.
Volunteer age range 13—100.

Volunteer Job Description
Reading old newspaper and recording names from them of the dead (Montrose county). Scanning of yearbooks and other materials for library use.

Skills/abilities desired
Some computer skill for the scanning position. Able to read and write for the newspaper research.

Organization Description: *Assist in the expansion of genealogical material in the Montrose area.
*Locate and preserve records.
*Promoting interest in genealogical research.
*Share knowledge and resources.

Ted Dickinson Fondly Remembered

The community fondly remembers and mourns the loss of Dr. Ted Dickinson. Ted was instrumental in the formation of the Montrose Community Foundation and served as Executive Director for many years. His contributions were many. We at the Foundation wish to extend our sincere condolences to his family and express our genuine appreciation for his life well lived.

Join us Thursday, February 16 from 7-8:30 a.m. for a cross-sector networking and information breakfast on what interesting things are going on in our community. This month’s featured nonprofit is CASA Voices for Children. Cost is $5 and RSVPs are greatly appreciated at information@MontroseACT.com. These monthly events are held is the second level of Montrose ACT at 1519 East Main Street.

Baldridge Snow Ball Gala: February 4

The community is cordially invited to attend the Baldridge Snow Ball Gala on Saturday, February 4 at the Montrose Pavilion. World-class ice sculptor Scott Rella will be providing a demonstration and you will have the opportunity to vote for your favorites among the commissioned pieces on display that have been generously underwritten by local businesses. Tickets to the gala are $100. A special free community viewing will take place between 3:30-5:30 p.m. For more information, contact the Foundation at 249-3900.

Local students are invited and encouraged to apply for a scholarship administered by the Foundation. Click on the “Scholarships” tab to read the guidelines, determine eligibility and download an application. All applications share an April 1 deadline.
