At the heart of the Montrose Community Foundation is our granting program.  This completes the cycle linking generosity with giving.  Last year, grants totaling $18,000 through the competitive grant cycle were awarded to eleven nonprofits from earned income from the Forever Fund.  To date, more than $200,000 has been directed into the hands of worthwhile community organizations to further their efforts in growing the Montrose Community.

The Montrose Community Foundation strives to award five percent of its endowment each year in grants to community organizations.  Eighty percent of the grants are awarded through a competitive grant cycle with applications available in September and monetary awards given the following January.  The remaining twenty percent of available granting monies are reserved to respond to unique requests throughout the year.

Please review our guidelines for grants before submitting your request through the Common Grant Application available on this site.

The Montrose Community Foundation recently provided grant funds to a variety of worthwhile organizations.   Here are some examples:

Colona School  We proudly support the Colona School Restoration Project that will provide for exterior restoration work of this community icon that has served as the centerpiece of the Colona community for more than 90 years.  Through matching funds from the State Historical Fund, much-needed repairs of the windows, doors, brick, stucco, and the installation of a security and fire detection system will soon become a reality.

CAP Cadet Program

Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program  The CAP Cadet Program recently received grant funding to expand their service to financially disadvantaged youth who could not otherwise participate in this program.  Cadets enrolled in the program take classes on aviation and aerospace topics, learn discipline through military drills, pursue physical fitness, improve self confidence through presentations to their peers and adults, and occasionally have the opportunity to fly in powered and glider aircraft.
