San Juan Coloradans for Nebraska

The San Juan Coloradans for Nebraska was formed to cooperate with the National Alumni Association of the University of Nebraska to provide an organization where alumni, parents, children, and friends in a specific geographic area can meet periodically for service and intellectual and social enrichment.  This scholarship was created to further the educational goals of the local youth.

We are pleased to announce the 2010 scholarship recipients.  From Ouray County, Stephanie Ficco received a scholarship.  Montrose County recipients include Samantha Jacobson of Olathe High School and Amanda Church of Nucla High School.  Congratulations and best wishes to these young ladies!

DESCRIPTION:

• The San Juan Coloradans for Nebraska Scholarship (SJCN) is to be awarded to a graduating high school student who will attend an educational institution after graduation from high school.
• The number and amount of scholarships will vary depending on monies available each year.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

• Must demonstrate good citizenship and service to community.
• Must complete an application.
• Must attach an essay. In a maximum of one page, please discuss who you are, your goals for the future, factors that led you to choose the vocational course you are pursuing, goals you have set for yourself, and why you are deserving of this scholarship.
• Must attach a transcript.
• Must attach a resume.
• All documents must be submitted on front side only.
• Must be citizen of the United States of America.

SCHOLARSHIP PROCEDURE & SELECTION:

• Scholarship applications are available here, the Guidance Offices of eligible high schools, and on the SJCN Website: www.sjcn4ne.com.
• The scholarship will not renew.
• The scholarship may be used at a college, junior college, technical institute, or vocational-technical institute.
• Scholarship applications must be received by April 1.
